LPGA announces The 50 Best Teachers for 2008-09
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 4, 2008 – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is proud to announce it's first-ever compilation of the “The 50 Best Teachers.” To identify and recognize the best instructors in each of the five LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) sections (Central, Midwest, Southeast, Northeast and Western), the LPGA T&CP - which includes more than 1,200 members – were asked to rank their peers by voting for the top teachers in their sections. MESQUITE, NEV. – The 2008 LPGA Ketel One Cup concluded at the CasaBlanca Golf Course with the defending East winning the Cup 61 ½ to 50 ½ over the West. Marriott named 2008 Ellen Griffin Rolex Award recipient. Vision 54 co-founder, Lynn Marriott (photo, top) has been recognized for her superior contributions to teaching golf with the 2008 Ellen Griffin Rolex Award. The honor, for which Marriott is the 20th recipient, is given annually by the LPGA T&CP membership. More>>
Beck wins Nancy Lopez Golf Achievement Award.
Honor given to LPGA T&CP member who exemplifies Lopez' characteristics on, off course. Troy Beck (photo, bottom) has been named the winner of the 2008 Nancy Lopez Golf Achievement Award, which recognizes an LPGA professional who gives back to the game in the spirit of Nancy Lopez. Beck will receive the award at the LPGA Ketel One Cup, Nov. 9-11, at the CasaBlanca Resort in Mesquite, Nev. More>>

In the LPGA T&CP Northeast Section Mixed Team Championship on Oct. 9th, the duo of Sue Ginter-Brooker and Robert Deruntz took top honors at the event, which was hosted at Montauk Downs on Eastern Long Island. Ginter-Brooker and Deruntz carded a 32 on the front nine in a scramble format, then followed up with a 30 on the back nine, which was played in a modified Pinehurst (both hit driver and choose, then alternate shot).

Southeast Section member Nell Frewin-Hays has been selected the Crime Prevention Practitioner of the Year for the state of Florida. Nell will be presenting a four-hour block on Golf Course Security at the State Conference, Oct. 20-24, 2008. Nell presents on the 22nd and the award will be presented at the annual banquet on the 23rd.
Central Section member Sharon Miller will be inducted into the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame in October. More>>
